Advanced trainings are most often seminars that are not only open to Esalen Massage Practitioners. Therefore if you are interested go ahead and ask. Even people with enough experience in other massage forms, in bodywork, or within other therapeutic contexts, can take part in the seminar after having discussed the matter with the teacher in question. Advanced trainings are offered by Esalen Massage Instructors, who, often for decades, have focussed their experiences in massage and bodywork in specific domains. Thus there are for example trainings in massage while the client is lying on his or her side, deep connective tissue massage, Trigger-Point-Emotional-Release etc. Nevertheless basic knowledge, such as internal and external attitude at the massage couch, is taught and deepened during lessons.
